This session begins with a 20-minute archival lecture from Ram Dass on the ways we can learn about compassion through the quote, "Out of emptiness arises compassion.

Session 4 Us Vs. Them: Building the Groundwork for Compassionate featuring Dale Borglum and Ram Dass Archival Footage
This session begins with a 30-minute archival lecture from Ram Dass about the dysfunctional myth of individuality in our culture. When we are caught in separateness, our perceptions are skewed so that we see everyone else in relation to their ability to satisfy our own desires. The cost of that viewpoint is massive because we create a separation of the heart between ourselves and others when we objectify them.

Session 5 Compassion in Action featuring Dale Borglum and Ram Dass Archival Footage
The session begins with a ten-minute lecture from Ram Dass on the ways we respond, emotionally and spiritually, to suffering.

Session 6 Chant and the Nature of the Goddess with Trevor Hall and Raghu Markus
Trevor Hall (Rampriya Das) and Raghu Markus lead an introductory workshop and discussion about Kirtan (devotional chant), and how to get started with a chanting practice if you don't know where to begin.

The two explore the efficacy of chanting to the Divine Mother/the Goddess, a devotion that stemmed from the early days of Maharaji telling his devotees to treat every woman as their mother.

Session 7 Cessation of the Turnings of the Mind featuring Mirabai Starr, Raghu Markus and Saraswati Anand
The trio discusses different planes of consciousness and attachment to our thoughts, and the ways that we can use the wisdom of yoga to describe the core concepts of attachment, trust, and self-inquiry. Raghu brings up Krishna Das’s concept of ‘the movie of me’ and how important it is to trust in who we really are, not who we think we are.

Session 8 Ramayana and the Hanuman Chalisa Workshop with Duncan Trussell, Benjy Wertheimer and Raghu Markus
The trio explores the Hindu epic, The Ramayana, and the Hindu God Hanuman, both of which were very important to Neem Karoli Baba (Maharajji).  Duncan, Raghu, and Benjy discuss how not everyone feels a connection to Hanuman and other stories of mythology. Duncan feels more connected to the Satsang than the old traditions and stories. Benjy digs into mythology, and how a myth can be a lie in service of a greater truth.

Session 9  Breath and Mantra Workshop with Nina Rao and Saraswati Anand
Sarawsati talks about Pranayama, the practice of breath control, where the breath is the vehicle of consciousness. She gives a breakdown of the seven points of posture, then offers a variety of breathing exercises:

  • Breathing in and out of the heart center
  • Breathing in and out of the third eye
  • Diaphragmatic breathing
  • Box breathing
  • Three-part breathing
  • Exhalation with the ‘Om’ sound
