ॐ Shiva Nataraj Prayer Shawl Bundle
These lightweight shawls are handmade in India by family artisans. The shawls are made in a traditional hand-loom and are block printed with OM (ॐ) and Shiva Nataraj patterns.
The gauge-airy technique (tiny loopholes) allows the fabric to breathe making this a great accessory for mild weather. These multipurpose shawls can be accessorized with various clothing as a scarf, headpiece or sarong and can be used for meditation, prayer and yoga.[split]
This beautiful mantra shawl depicts a traditional design printed with sacred OM symbols (Hindu/Sanskrit word) and the mantra "OM Namah Shivaya" and features a block print of Lord Shiva as the Lord of Dance. Shiva is the supreme reality, the inner Self. It is the name given to consciousness that dwells in all. Shiva is the name of your true identity- your self. The Shiva Nataraj (Shiva as Lord of Dance) represents Shiva's roles as creator, preserver and destroyer. Om is the sound of oneness or dissolving into the universe.
These scarves are handmade by craft artisans. They will have unique variations all of which provide you with an exclusive one of a kind item.
Shiva Murti
Shiva is the Hindu name for Universal Godhead, or divine creative energy. The dancing figure, encircled by a ring of fire depicts the cosmos coming into being, and reminds us that all create is a manifestation of the Shiva. The dance of Shiva is called Anandatandava and symbolizes Lord Shiva's role as creator, preserver and destroyer of the universe. When Lord Shiva takes the form of Nataraja he also conveys the Hindu conception of the never-ending cycle of time.
"Shiva's dance is set within a flaming halo. He holds in his upper right hand the Damaru (hand drum that made the first sounds of creation). His upper left hand holds Agni (the fire that will destroy the universe). With his lower right hand, he makes Abhayamudra (the gesture that allays fear). The dwarflike figure being trampled by his right foot represents Apasmara Purusha (illusion, which leads mankind astray). Shiva's front left hand, pointing to his raised left foot, signifies refuge for the troubled soul. The energy of his dance makes his hair fly to the sides. The symbols imply that, through belief in Shiva, his devotees can achieve salvation" (Met Museum, 2019).
Murtis are often used for Puja (Altar) but can also be placed around the home or space as a symbol of remembrance.
Rudraksha Mala
Malas are a great way for beginners (and those who are seasoned) to do Japa or mantra meditation. Rudraksha is a seed belonging to the Elaeocarpus evergreen tree. Rudraksha literally means Eyes of Shiva, Shiva Eye. It is sometimes referred to as Tears of Shiva. Rudraksha beads are said to be good for purification and help shield against negative energy.
